Rattanakosin
Exhibition Hall is a brand new interactive self
learning centre situated on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road. The
Exhibition hall has also become one of the most popular tourist
places to visit in Bangkok. It
was officially opened on 9th March 2010. The hall
is equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia technologies giving
information on history, art and culture of the Rattanakosin period. There are 9
exhibition rooms representing the important
historical events that took place during
Rattanakosin period.
The exhibition
is divided into two routes. You will take
about 2 hours
for
each route. A guide will give you the important information of each exhibition room and also answer any questions you have.
Route 1: Impressive Communities,
Grandeur Rattanakosin, Prestige of the Kingdom, Remarkable
Entertainment, The
Heart and Soul of the Nation, and Sight-seeing Highlights.
Route 2:
Renowned Ceremonies, Graceful Architectures, The Colorful Thai Way of Living,
and Rattanakosin
Sky View.
Let’s start with route one!
The guide will take you
to go through the tunnel to see a timeline of major events
from Rattarakosin period until the present. After walking along the
tunnel, you will go to the second floor to visit the
exhibition rooms.
“Impressive
Communities”
This room will
bring you
more on the history of the
12 old communities, and the origins of street names on Rattanakosin
Island.
“Grandeur
Rattanakosin”
You
can enjoy the spectacle of the
beginning of Rattanakosin presentation in 4D. It will take
you about 20 minutes to view the presentation.
“Prestige of the
Kingdom”
The exhibition room still maintains the original
atmosphere of the Thai past, especially the
scaled model The Royal Grand Palace. Moreover, you can find out the history
and see the Emerald Buddha in all three seasonal in this room.
“Remarkable
Entertainment”
You can enjoy the 360°
views of the celebration and performing arts in the Rattanakosin period such as
Khon or Thai masked
performance.
“The Heart and Soul of the Nation”
This very big exhibition room displays the Royal duties of The Nine Kings of the Chakri Dynasty.
You
will find out why Thai people live
in peace, stability, and prosperity.
“Sight-seeing
Highlights”
Rattanakosin
Island is not only known for beautiful palaces and temples,
but also for interesting communities.
You will travel along the small towns of Rattanakosin Island. Here you can experience
the atmosphere of architectural sites, food, and shopping.
Route two..
“Renowned
Ceremonies”
The
guide will take you to the second floor to view a collection of interesting mural
paintings depicting the royal ceremonies over 12 months such as such as the Royal Ploughing Ceremony. You can
find
out more background details
of each picture from using an interactive touch screen.
“Graceful
Architectures”
In
this room you will experience the atmosphere of Thai
architectures in Rattanakosin period which Western and Chinese architectural
style were mixed with Thai traditional architectures.
“The
Colorful Thai Way of Living”
You can learn more about
culture and tradition of Thai people from Rattanakosin period to the present.
Moreover, you can enjoy sightseeing along Charoen Krung Road and shopping for souvenirs.
“Rattanakosin Sky View”
One highlight of Rattanakosin
Exhibition Hall is Rattanakosin
Sky View. Here you can watch 360° view of Rattanakosin Island or
enjoy delicious traditional Thai
food and drink at the café.
